SUMMER SCHOOL
CREATIVE INDUSTRIES AND CREATIVE ECONOMY: SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION

Moscow – Yasnaya Polyana (Tula region)
July, 03 – 10, 2010

Background and project idea

During the recent three years Creative Industries Agency in collaboration with a number of partner organizations carries out summer schools with the participation of students and professors, Oxford-Russia Fund scholarship holders, from the Russian regional Universities.

General subject area of the Summer School – implementation of interdisciplinary educational and project programmes related to the development of creative industries in Russia. The programmes are developed so that they could include aspirations of the participants and provide active support to the representatives of different study areas – historians, linguists, and economists, sociologists, philosophers and students of law. In addition, one of the most important tasks of the School is to present practical opportunities to convert academic knowledge into practice using project technologies. Over the time, the School's work is focused upon the topic of conversion of industrial areas into cultural centers and clusters, which is an important issue for scientific, cultural and social fields in the country.

In 2008-2009, German, British and French cultural managers and scientists (representatives of Emscher  Park project in the Ruhr valley (Germany), TomFleming Creative Consultancy and University of Leeds (Great Britain), French Cultural Center) took part in the School's activities.

Creativity as a general source for project activities and creative industries (the core of creative economy) as a practical outlet of different initiatives is a broad issue that is planned to elaborate in the next session of the Summer School.

The School 2010 intends to discuss philosophic, social and economic aspects of creative industries and creative economy, forms and typologies of Russian and foreign projects, efficiency of international partnerships within different strategies of regional development, and a role of creative economy in international integration.
